Description

One of the easiest upgrades you can make to a beginner telescope. The SVBONY 66° Wide Angle Eyepiece series gives a much more expansive viewing experience than many basic telescope-supplied eyepieces, while keeping the cost accessible. Available in 6mm, 9mm, 15mm and 20mm focal lengths, it is a strong choice for Dobsonians, refractors, Maksutovs and SCTs.

SVBONY 66 degree wide angle eyepiece full set

Why upgrade to the SVBONY 66° range?

  • 66° apparent field of view: a wider, more immersive view than many standard starter eyepieces.
  • 16mm eye relief: comfortable across all four focal lengths.
  • Fully multi-coated optics: designed for bright, contrasty views.
  • Blackened lens edges: help reduce unwanted internal reflections.
  • 1.25″ barrel: fits the vast majority of beginner and intermediate telescopes using standard 1.25″ focusers or diagonals.
  • Threaded for 1.25″ filters: use with lunar, colour and suitable nebula filters.

Which focal length should I choose?

  • 20mm: low-power scanning, open clusters and easier target finding.
  • 15mm: a useful all-round medium-power eyepiece for lunar and deep-sky observing.
  • 9mm: medium-high power for the Moon and planets in many telescopes.
  • 6mm: high magnification for lunar and planetary detail when seeing conditions and telescope aperture allow.

To estimate the magnification in your own telescope: magnification = telescope focal length ÷ eyepiece focal length.

Particularly good for manual Dobsonians

A wider apparent field gives a target more room to drift across the view before you need to move the telescope. That makes the 66° range especially attractive for manually tracked Dobsonians and alt-azimuth telescopes.

Want a little more field?

For a slightly wider view and 17mm eye relief, compare the SVBONY 68° Ultra Wide Angle Eyepieces. Both ranges offer 6mm, 9mm, 15mm and 20mm focal lengths, making it easy to choose the magnification that suits your telescope.

Dark Clear Skies tip: if you tell us your telescope model, we can help you choose the most useful focal length rather than simply recommending the highest magnification.
