Omegon Powerbank 10k 37Wh 12V
The Omegon Powerbank 10k is a compact rechargeable power source designed for small GoTo telescope mounts requiring 12V DC at up to 1.5A. Weighing only 200g, it provides a much more portable alternative to carrying a large astronomy battery when your mount has relatively modest power requirements.
Inside is a 10,000mAh lithium-ion polymer battery at 3.7V, providing 37Wh of energy – equivalent to approximately 3Ah at 12V. Depending on the telescope mount and operating conditions, Omegon states that a small mount can typically be powered for approximately 4–6 hours.
Portable 12V Power for Small GoTo Telescope Mounts
Small alt-azimuth GoTo mounts are popular because they are quick to transport and set up, but a large external battery can undermine that portability. The Omegon Powerbank 10k is designed specifically to provide a lightweight power solution for compatible mounts.
The supplied special telescope cable connects to the USB-C port of the powerbank and provides a 12V DC output at up to 1.5A through a 5.5 x 2.1mm centre-positive DC connector.
Before connecting any telescope or mount, always check its required voltage, current and connector polarity.
10,000mAh / 37Wh Rechargeable Battery
The internal lithium-ion polymer battery has a native capacity of 10,000mAh at 3.7V. In energy terms this is 37Wh, corresponding to approximately 3Ah when supplying 12V.
This capacity is intended for relatively low-power portable telescope mounts rather than large astronomy systems with substantial power requirements.
USB Power for Phones and Tablets
The Powerbank 10k can also be used as a conventional portable USB power source for compatible phones, tablets and other USB devices.
It provides USB-A and USB-C outputs rated at DC 5V up to 3A, with support for compatible higher-voltage charging protocols. The manual lists compatibility with PD2.0, PD3.0, QC2.0, QC3.0, PE2.0, FCP, SFCP and Apple 2.4A charging.
Important Operating Note
Omegon states that you should not charge a phone or other device while simultaneously using the powerbank to power a telescope.

Compatible Telescope Power Requirements
The telescope output is intended for small mounts meeting all three of the following requirements:
- Voltage: 12V DC
- Current requirement: 1.5A or less
- Connector: 5.5 x 2.1mm centre-positive
The original manufacturer information lists examples including Sky-Watcher AZ-GTi, AZ-GTe and Star Discovery mounts, several Celestron NexStar models, and Omegon Push+ systems. Compatibility should nevertheless be checked against the exact power requirements of your individual mount before connection.
Important: mounts requiring a different connector size, polarity, voltage or more than 1.5A at 12V should not be connected using the supplied telescope cable. Omegon specifically notes that Meade mounts using a 5.5 x 2.5mm connector are not directly compatible with the supplied 5.5 x 2.1mm telescope connector.
Special Telescope Cable Required for 12V Operation
An important feature of this model is the supplied special USB-C telescope cable. The powerbank recognises this cable and automatically supplies the required 12V output for a compatible telescope mount.
According to the Omegon manual, using the telescope cable with a different powerbank will not necessarily provide the required 12V, and using this powerbank with a different cable will not provide the intended 12V telescope output.
Recharging the Powerbank
The Powerbank 10k can be recharged through either its Micro-USB or USB-C input.
A charging cable is supplied, but a mains power adapter is not included.
Omegon recommends fully recharging the powerbank at least once every six months to help maintain battery condition. The unit should not be recharged while it is simultaneously powering a telescope or charging another device.
