ZWO AM3N Harmonic Equatorial Mount
The ZWO AM3N is a compact strain-wave mount for portable astrophotography and visual observing. It supports both Equatorial and Alt-Azimuth operation and adds integrated power and data connections on the saddle for cleaner cable routing.
Key features
- EQ and Alt-Az operation for imaging, EAA and visual observing.
- Up to 8 kg payload without counterweight and up to 13 kg with counterweight.
- Approx. 4.1 kg mount-head weight for a highly portable setup.
- Integrated USB-C data and 12 V output on the saddle.
- Dual Vixen / Losmandy saddle.
- 0°–90° altitude adjustment and approximately ±6° azimuth adjustment.
- Strain-wave drive with synchronous-belt transmission.
Tracking and guiding
ZWO specifies periodic error of approximately ≤ ±15 arcseconds with a cycle of around 288 seconds. For long-exposure imaging, accurate polar alignment and autoguiding are recommended.
Counterweight use
Most lighter imaging systems can be run without a counterweight. For heavier payloads, the AM3N supports an M12 × 1.75 counterweight-bar thread and a suitable counterweight arrangement within ZWO's stated limits.
Included promotional tripod
This offer includes the ZWO TC40 Carbon Fibre Tripod free of charge. The TC40 gives the AM3N a lightweight, rigid field platform suitable for travel and portable imaging setups.
Who is it for?
The AM3N suits users who want a compact harmonic-drive mount for small to medium refractors, camera lenses and lightweight imaging systems, while retaining the flexibility to switch between EQ and Alt-Az modes.
