The Celestron EclipSmart 10x42 Solar Binoculars is purpose-built 10x42 binoculars for direct visual observation of the Sun. Permanently attached solar filters meet ISO 12312-2:2015(E), block ultraviolet and infrared radiation and, according to Celestron, reduce visible sunlight by 99.999%.
Built-In Solar Filters
The filtering material is permanently installed ahead of both objectives, helping prevent accidental removal during use. The view of the Sun appears as a comfortably bright orange disc against a dark background.
10x42 Porro Optics
The 10× magnification and 42mm objectives provide a 6° angular field, 4.2mm exit pupil and 12.7mm eye relief. BK7 Porro prisms and multi-coated non-solar optical surfaces complete the optical system.
What You Can Observe
Under suitable conditions the binoculars can show the solar disc, larger sunspots and the progress of a partial or total solar eclipse. They are designed for white-light solar observation, not for hydrogen-alpha prominence or chromosphere detail.
Portable Solar Viewing
At 680g, the binoculars are easy to carry and require no separate solar filter. They are water resistant but not nitrogen filled, and Celestron does not state tripod adaptability for this model.
Inspect Before Every Use
Check both filters in good light before every session. Do not use the binoculars if either filter is scratched, punctured, torn, loose or otherwise damaged. Follow the manual’s supervision and time-limit instructions.

Critical Solar Safety
Inspect both built-in filters before every use. Do not look at the Sun if either filter is damaged, loose or altered.
Follow the supplied manual exactly. Supervise children continuously. Do not use the binoculars with any additional optical instrument, camera, telescope or magnifying device, and do not attempt to remove the filters.
Stop observing immediately if the view is uncomfortably bright or if you experience eye discomfort. Never use damaged solar-viewing equipment.
