The Celestron EclipSmart Solar Filter for 8-Inch SCT and EdgeHD is a full-aperture white-light solar filter for compatible Celestron 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain and EdgeHD telescopes. Its scratch-resistant polymer filter meets ISO 12312-2:2015(E) and produces an orange solar image.
Designed for Celestron 8-Inch SCT and EdgeHD Models
The 225mm internal diameter is designed for the compatible Celestron telescope families listed below. Do not assume compatibility from nominal aperture alone; confirm the actual front-cell dimensions and secure fit.
White-Light Solar Observation
The filter can show the solar disc, larger sunspots and eclipse progress in visible white light. It is not a hydrogen-alpha system and does not reveal chromosphere or prominence detail in the way a dedicated H-alpha solar telescope can.
Secure Full-Aperture Fit
Two 1 × 4-inch hook-and-loop straps and four 1 × 1-inch tabs secure the housing. Fit and test it before pointing towards the Sun, cover or remove finder devices, and confirm that wind or contact cannot dislodge it.
ISO-Compliant Filter Material
Celestron specifies American Paper Optics scratch-resistant polymer meeting ISO 12312-2:2015(E). The standard claim applies only while the complete filter remains undamaged and is used according to the manual.
Inspect Before Every Session
Inspect the film, housing and straps in good light. Do not use the filter if any part is scratched, punctured, torn, loose or separated. Discard a damaged solar filter rather than attempting a temporary repair.

Critical Solar Safety
Never point a telescope towards the Sun until this filter has been inspected, fitted over the full front aperture and secured so it cannot be removed accidentally.
Inspect the filter in good light before every use. Do not use it if the film, housing or retaining system is scratched, punctured, torn, loose, separated or otherwise damaged. Cover or remove every finder device. Never use an eyepiece solar filter and never project an image of the Sun.
Supervise children continuously and never leave a solar telescope unattended. Discard a damaged filter; do not attempt a temporary repair.
