Celestron SkyMaster 20x80 Porro Prism Binoculars product view

80mm Light Gathering for Astronomy

The 80mm objectives increase light gathering for star clusters, nebulae, the Moon and other bright deep-sky subjects, while 20× magnification brings out more detail than lower-power handheld binoculars. The 3.7° field remains useful for exploring larger sky regions.

Optical Design and Focusing

BaK-4 prisms and multi-coated optics support image brightness and contrast. Centre focusing with a right-eyepiece dioptre provides straightforward adjustment, while the 4mm exit pupil offers a practical balance between magnification and image brightness.

The published field of view is 3.7°, equivalent to 65m at 1,000m. Close focus is 33m (108ft), so this model is intended primarily for medium- to long-distance subjects.

Tripod Use and Weather Protection

The built-in tripod adapter rod slides to help balance the binocular on a suitably rated photographic or astronomical tripod. At 2.126kg and 20× magnification, tripod use should be treated as normal operation. A tripod is not included.

Weather protection: Water resistant. It is not nitrogen filled and should not be treated as fully waterproof.
