The DCS 20 mm 1.25″ Plössl Eyepiece gives you another useful focal length for visual observing. Use it with a compatible telescope to explore the night sky at a magnification determined by your telescope’s focal length.
What does a 20 mm eyepiece do?
An eyepiece’s focal length does not specify a fixed magnification on its own. Divide your telescope’s focal length by 20 mm to calculate the magnification of this eyepiece in your setup.
Magnification examples
- 600 mm telescope focal length: 30×
- 1,000 mm telescope focal length: 50×
- 1,200 mm telescope focal length: 60×
These are calculated examples without a Barlow lens or focal reducer. The best observing power also depends on your telescope, target and atmospheric conditions.
Designed for a 1.25-inch eyepiece holder
The 1.25-inch barrel fits a compatible telescope focuser or diagonal. Insert the eyepiece, secure it using the holder’s retaining mechanism, and refocus. A telescope with a different fitting requires a suitable adapter.
