Colour guiding meets infrared Milky Way imaging
The ToupTek GPM662C Infrared Galaxy Set combines the Sony IMX662 colour guide camera with an 825nm infrared-pass filter and CS-mount lens. Use the lens for wide-field night-sky capture, or reconfigure the camera for a compatible telescope or guide scope.
What makes it a Galaxy Set?
This bundle adds a lens and infrared filter to the standard camera package. Selecting near-infrared light can reduce the contribution of visible artificial lighting. Results depend on sky conditions, exposure and processing; the filter does not remove every source of light pollution.
Infrared images are not natural-colour photographs. The GPM662C has a colour sensor, but the supplied IR-pass filter blocks visible wavelengths. Use an appropriate visible-light optical configuration for conventional colour imaging.
Getting started
Follow the manufacturer's adapter and lens installation diagram, support the camera securely with a suitable clamp and tripod, then connect it by USB to your computer or compatible controller. Focus on stars and adjust exposure to suit the sky. Stacking and dark-frame calibration can improve the result.
For autoguiding, fit the telescope adapters and use compatible guiding software. Connect the ST4 cable when using your mount's guide port. The camera requires software to calculate corrections.
