254mm aperture – explore deeper

Aperture makes an enormous difference when observing the night sky. With a 254mm primary mirror, this telescope gathers substantially more light than smaller beginner instruments, opening up a much wider range of celestial objects.

The Moon reveals intricate crater structures and mountain ranges. Jupiter can show atmospheric bands and its major moons, while Saturn's magnificent ring system becomes a striking sight.

Under darker skies, the large aperture really comes into its own. Globular clusters, planetary nebulae, emission nebulae and galaxies become rewarding observing targets.

Parabolic primary mirror

Good optics are at the heart of every telescope. The Omegon Advanced 254/1250 uses a parabolic primary mirror designed to produce sharp, high-contrast views.

The combination of a 254mm aperture and 1250mm focal length gives the telescope an f/5 focal ratio, making it particularly versatile for visual astronomy.

Smooth Dobsonian movement

A Dobsonian mount keeps telescope operation refreshingly straightforward. Rather than dealing with complicated alignment procedures, simply move the telescope in altitude and azimuth until your target is in view.

The large 143mm polyamide altitude bearings and Teflon azimuth pads allow the telescope to move smoothly, making manual tracking much easier when observing at higher magnifications.

Friction system for heavier accessories

Large eyepieces and other accessories can alter the balance of a Dobsonian telescope. Omegon's friction system is designed to compensate for this.

A central adjustment allows the telescope's movement to be balanced to suit the accessories fitted, helping maintain smooth and controlled movement.

2" Crayford focuser

The telescope is equipped with a 2-inch Crayford focuser, providing smooth and precise focusing while allowing the use of larger 2" astronomical accessories.

This gives you considerable flexibility when expanding your eyepiece collection, particularly if you want to use wide-field 2" eyepieces for sweeping views of star fields and extended deep-sky objects.
