Omegon Pro APO AP 108/600 Quintuplet Apochromatic Refractor
The Omegon Pro APO AP 108/600 Quintuplet is a fast, premium 108mm f/5.6 apochromatic refractor developed with astrophotography firmly in mind. Its five-element optical system combines a triplet ED objective with an integrated two-element field corrector, creating a flat imaging field without requiring a separate external flattener.
With a 600mm focal length, large 66mm image circle, substantial 4-inch focuser and multiple supplied threaded camera adapters, this is an imaging-focused optical tube designed to accommodate demanding modern astronomy cameras, including full-frame sensors.
Five-Element Optical System with Integrated Field Correction
At the heart of the Pro APO 108/600 is a quintuplet optical design. Rather than relying on an external field flattener, Omegon combines a three-element ED objective with a two-element integrated corrector.
The result is an optical system designed to provide a flat, well-corrected imaging field across large camera sensors. Omegon specifies an image circle diameter of 66mm, providing coverage for full-frame astrophotography.
For the astrophotographer, the integrated design also simplifies the imaging train: there is no separate field flattener to add between the telescope and camera.
108mm Aperture and Fast f/5.6 Focal Ratio
The 108mm aperture provides considerably more light-gathering ability than smaller imaging refractors while retaining the compactness and convenience that makes an apochromatic refractor attractive for deep-sky imaging.
A focal length of 600mm gives the telescope a fast f/5.6 focal ratio. This combination is particularly well suited to imaging extended deep-sky targets such as nebulae and galaxies while still providing sufficient focal length for capturing smaller structures and detail.
Omegon specifies a resolving capacity of 1.1 arcseconds, limiting magnitude of 12 and maximum useful visual magnification of 216x.
ED Glass and Multi-Coated Optics
Colour correction and contrast are fundamental to both astrophotography and high-quality visual observing. The Pro APO uses ED glass within its apochromatic optical system to minimise chromatic aberration and deliver a cleaner, more colour-neutral image.
The lens surfaces are multi-coated to reduce unwanted reflections and maximise useful light transmission. The design is intended to produce high-contrast, finely defined images for both imaging and visual astronomy.
Large 4-Inch Precision Focuser
Large sensors and substantial imaging trains require a focuser capable of supporting them. The Pro APO 108/600 therefore uses a substantial 4-inch focuser designed for both smooth movement and high load capacity.
A 1:10 fine-focus reduction allows small, controlled focus adjustments, particularly useful when trying to reach critical focus with a high-resolution astronomy camera.
The focuser provides an 82mm adjustment range and incorporates a ring clamp.
360° Rotation for Precise Camera Framing
Once a target has been centred and focused, composition can be adjusted using the 360° rotation system. This allows the camera orientation to be changed without having to reposition the telescope itself.
This is particularly useful when framing elongated nebulae, galaxies or larger mosaics where sensor orientation can make a significant difference to the final composition.
Threaded Camera Connections
A secure threaded imaging train helps minimise unwanted movement and tilt. The telescope provides an M90x1 male connection, and Omegon supplies a selection of camera adapters for building different imaging configurations.
Supplied threaded adapters are specified as:

- M52x0.75 female
- M48x0.75 male
The telescope also supports 2-inch / M48 and 1.25-inch accessory connections using the supplied adapters.
CNC-Machined Optical Tube
The optical tube uses a CNC-machined metal construction with an internal anti-reflection system. The inside of the tube is lined with a black velvet-like material to help suppress stray light and preserve image contrast.
A retractable dew shield extends during observing or imaging sessions and can be retracted to reduce the telescope's overall length for storage and transport.
Designed for a Secure Mounting Setup
The optical tube is supplied with tube rings and a Losmandy-style dovetail rail, providing a substantial mounting interface appropriate for this 7.9kg OTA.
A Vixen/Sky-Watcher-style finder base is also provided for attaching a compatible finder or other suitable accessory.
Please note: this product is supplied as an optical tube assembly (OTA). A telescope mount is not included.
