The Omegon Pro APO AP 90/450 ED3Q combines a sophisticated five-element optical system with a fast f/5 focal ratio and a huge 55mm fully corrected image field. The result is an astrograph capable of producing sharp, point-like stars across an exceptionally large imaging area.
Where many telescope designs perform well in the centre but begin to lose sharpness towards the corners of a large sensor, the 90/450 ED3Q has been designed specifically to maintain excellent correction across the entire field.

Designed for Large Sensors
Large camera sensors place particularly high demands on telescope optics. Stars that appear sharp in the centre of the image can become distorted or blurred towards the corners if the optical system cannot adequately correct the entire field.
The Omegon 90/450 ED3Q has been engineered around a substantial 55mm corrected image diagonal. This gives astrophotographers considerably more freedom when using full-frame cameras and other large astronomy sensors.
The five-element optical system incorporates three ED glass elements to minimise chromatic aberration while also correcting field curvature and other optical aberrations.
The result is a large, usable imaging field with high contrast, excellent colour correction and tight stars extending towards the edges of the sensor.
Fast f/5 Optics
With a focal length of just 450mm and an aperture of 90mm, the ED3Q operates at a fast f/5.
This makes it particularly attractive for wide-field deep-sky astrophotography, where its combination of speed and field of view is well suited to large nebulae, expansive star fields and mosaic projects.
Faster optics collect imaging data efficiently, helping you make better use of clear nights while still retaining the resolution provided by a 90mm aperture.
Integrated Field Correction
The corrector forms part of the optical system itself, so there is no separate field flattener to purchase or position.
This creates a more integrated imaging system and removes one of the complications normally encountered when building a high-performance refractor imaging train.
Rotation & Tilt Adjustment
Precise sensor positioning can make a significant difference to an astrophotography setup. The ED3Q therefore incorporates both camera rotation and tilt adjustment.
The rotation mechanism allows the camera and sensor to be turned to achieve the ideal composition without moving the telescope or disturbing the mount.
Tilt adjustment provides an additional means of correcting sensor alignment — particularly useful when working with large, high-resolution sensors where even small amounts of tilt can become visible in the corners of an image.
Heavy-Duty 3.7-inch Focuser
Modern astrophotography imaging trains can become surprisingly heavy once a cooled camera, filter wheel, off-axis guider and adapters are installed.
The Omegon ED3Q uses a substantial 3.7-inch rack-and-pinion focuser designed to keep this equipment securely supported.
With a stated 6kg load capacity and 1:10 fine-focus reduction, the focuser combines mechanical strength with the precision required for critical astrophotography focusing.
The focuser provides approximately 40mm of adjustment travel.
Flexible Imaging Connections
A serious astrograph needs to accommodate different cameras, filter wheels and imaging accessories. The ED3Q provides a selection of threaded connections including M48, M54 and M68 options, giving considerable flexibility when constructing a rigid imaging train.
Threaded connections are particularly valuable with heavier imaging equipment because they help minimise unwanted movement and maintain alignment between the telescope and camera sensor.
Built Around the Imaging Rig
The telescope is supplied with two tube rings and a Vixen-style mounting plate. An integrated carrying handle makes the OTA easier to handle when installing or removing it from the mount.
The handle also provides an Arca-Swiss-style accessory mounting rail, creating a useful location for compatible guide scopes and other imaging accessories.
A retractable dew shield and internal stray-light baffles complete a mechanical design intended specifically for serious imaging use.
Interferometrically Tested in Germany
Each instrument is interferometrically tested in Germany. This quality-control process is intended to ensure that the optical system supplied to the customer performs to the expected standard.
For an astrograph designed around large sensors — where optical imperfections can become particularly obvious — this additional testing provides useful reassurance.
