Omegon Pro APO 96/575 Triplet ED FCD-100
A premium 96mm triplet apochromatic refractor built around Japanese Hoya FCD100 ED glass, combining outstanding colour correction with a fast f/6 optical system for serious astrophotography and high-resolution visual astronomy.
The Omegon Pro APO AP 96/575 Triplet ED FCD-100 delivers almost four inches of aperture in a compact imaging-focused refractor. Its combination of a 96mm aperture, 575mm focal length and f/6 focal ratio makes it an extremely versatile telescope for imaging nebulae, galaxies and larger deep-sky targets while retaining enough focal length for detailed lunar and planetary work.
At the heart of the telescope is a sophisticated air-spaced triplet objective incorporating Hoya FCD100 ED glass, engineered to minimise chromatic aberration and produce exceptionally clean, high-contrast images.
Premium Hoya FCD100 Triplet Optics
Image quality is the defining feature of this Pro APO. The three-element apochromatic objective uses Hoya FCD100 extra-low dispersion glass manufactured in Japan.
FCD100 offers extremely low dispersion characteristics and allows the optical system to achieve excellent correction of chromatic aberration when combined with appropriately selected mating glass.
For astrophotography this means tighter, cleaner stars and more natural colour. For visual astronomy it produces crisp, high-contrast views with very little distracting false colour, even when observing bright targets at higher magnifications.
- 96mm triplet apochromatic objective
- Hoya FCD100 ED glass
- 575mm focal length
- Fast f/6 focal ratio
- Fully multi-coated optics
- Internal stray-light baffles
- Excellent colour correction and contrast
Built for Astrophotography
The 575mm focal length provides a highly useful imaging scale for many popular deep-sky objects, while the relatively fast f/6 focal ratio makes efficient use of valuable imaging time.
Internal baffles help suppress unwanted reflections and stray light, improving contrast both at the eyepiece and when collecting long-exposure data.
The result is an optical system suited to demanding astrophotographers who want excellent colour correction without moving to a much larger and heavier telescope.
2.5-inch High-Capacity Precision Focuser
A high-quality optical system deserves an equally capable focuser. The Omegon 96/575 is fitted with an improved 2.5-inch hybrid rack-and-pinion focuser combining smooth movement with excellent mechanical stability.
The focuser can support imaging equipment weighing up to an impressive 10kg, providing ample capacity for substantial cooled cameras, filter wheels, off-axis guiders and other imaging accessories.
A 1:10 fine-focus reduction allows tiny adjustments to be made when achieving critical focus — particularly valuable when using modern high-resolution astronomy cameras.
- 2.5-inch hybrid focuser
- Rack-and-pinion drive
- 10kg load capacity
- 1:10 fine focusing
- 2-inch accessory connection
- 1.25-inch reducing adapter included
- M63x1 female camera-side thread
M63 Thread for Imaging Accessories
In addition to the conventional 2-inch connection, the focuser provides an M63x1 female threaded connection. This allows compatible flatteners, reducers and imaging adapters to be attached using a secure threaded connection rather than relying solely on compression fittings.
This is particularly useful when building a rigid astrophotography imaging train where maintaining sensor alignment is important.
Carry Handle and Accessory Rail in One
The integrated top handle makes carrying and installing the telescope considerably easier, but Omegon has made the space work twice as hard.
The handle also serves as an accessory mounting rail, providing a convenient position for equipment such as a guide scope and guide camera.
This creates a tidy imaging configuration while keeping additional equipment securely positioned above the optical tube.
Ready for Your Mount
The telescope is supplied with precision CNC-machined tube rings and a Vixen-style mounting rail, making it ready for installation on a wide range of compatible equatorial and harmonic-drive mounts.
A Vixen/Sky-Watcher-style finder base is also provided for conveniently attaching compatible finder scopes and accessories.
The retractable dew shield keeps the telescope compact during transport while helping protect the objective from stray light and dew during observing and imaging sessions.
