SVBONY SV406P 20–60x80 ED Spotting Scope

The SVBONY SV406P 20–60x80 ED Spotting Scope combines an 80mm objective lens, Extra-Low Dispersion glass and a versatile 20–60x zoom range to deliver bright, detailed views with excellent colour control. It is an impressive choice for birdwatching, wildlife observation, target shooting, landscape viewing and other demanding long-distance applications.

The ED optical system helps reduce chromatic aberration—the unwanted colour fringing that can soften fine detail around high-contrast subjects. Combined with fully multi-coated optics and a BaK-4 prism, it produces crisp, high-contrast images with natural-looking colour across the magnification range.

80mm ED Optical System

The large 80mm objective gathers plenty of light, helping the SV406P maintain a bright and detailed image during early-morning, late-evening and overcast observing. Its three-element, three-group objective incorporates Extra-Low Dispersion glass to improve sharpness and suppress false colour around birds, branches and other high-contrast subjects.

  • 80mm objective lens: provides strong light-gathering performance and a bright field of view.
  • ED glass: reduces chromatic aberration for cleaner edges and more faithful colour.
  • Fully multi-coated optics: improve light transmission and image contrast.
  • BaK-4 prism: supports a clear, well-defined view with excellent detail.

Flexible 20–60x Magnification

Begin at 20x for a wider field of view that makes it easier to locate and follow a subject. Increase the magnification gradually to 60x when you want a closer inspection of distant wildlife, target details or features in the landscape.

The included zoom eyepiece has a seven-element, four-group optical design and provides an apparent field of view of approximately 42° at 20x, widening to 66° at 60x.

Precise Dual-Speed Focusing

The dual-focus mechanism combines coarse and fine adjustment controls. The coarse control brings the subject into focus quickly, while the fine-focus control allows smaller, more precise corrections—particularly useful at higher magnifications where accurate focus becomes increasingly important.

With a close-focus distance of approximately 5.5 metres, the SV406P can also reveal fine detail in relatively nearby birds, insects and wildlife.

Compatible with 1.25-Inch Astronomy Eyepieces

The supplied zoom eyepiece can be removed, allowing the spotting scope to accept compatible 1.25-inch astronomy eyepieces. This gives experienced observers more flexibility to select a suitable focal length or eyepiece design for a particular viewing application.

Actual magnification and performance will depend on the focal length and design of the replacement eyepiece.

Comfortable Viewing

The angled eyepiece position provides a comfortable viewing angle when the scope is mounted on a suitable tripod. Its twist-up eyecup allows the viewing position to be adjusted for different users, including observers wearing glasses.

Eye relief ranges from approximately 20mm at 20x to 18mm at 60x, helping provide a comfortable view throughout the zoom range.

IPX7 Waterproof and Nitrogen Filled

The SV406P is nitrogen filled and rated IPX7 waterproof, helping protect its internal optics from water ingress and internal fogging during changing outdoor conditions. This makes it well suited to birdwatching, wildlife observation and field use in the unpredictable British weather.

Designed for Detailed Long-Range Observation

Whether you are identifying distant birds, checking a target, observing wildlife across open ground or studying details in the landscape, the SV406P provides the reach, light-gathering ability and precise focusing needed for confident observation.

For the steadiest view—especially at medium and high magnification—we recommend mounting the scope on a sturdy photographic tripod with a suitable pan-and-tilt or fluid head.
