ToupTek Astro T-Forty Carbon Fibre Tripod
Build your portable imaging setup on a practical foundation with the ToupTek Astro T-Forty. Designed for astronomy and astrophotography, it combines substantial carbon fibre legs with a compact aluminium structure, a removable mounting plate and a reinforced centre brace.
Whether you are setting up in the garden or travelling to darker skies, the T-Forty helps keep your equipment manageable without overlooking the importance of a secure mount connection.

Why choose the T-Forty?
- 39mm carbon fibre legs with 12-layer construction and 1.2mm tube walls.
- 2.3kg weight including accessories for a portable astronomy setup.
- 515mm folded length for convenient storage and transport.
- CNC-machined aluminium components at the frame, joints and mounting plate.
- Flexible mounting options using a 3/8-inch centre fixing or M6 fasteners, subject to mount compatibility.
- Centre brace and ballast bag to help stabilise your setup.

Carbon fibre legs with a substantial construction
The T-Forty uses 39mm diameter carbon fibre tubes with 12 layers and 1.2mm walls. This construction is designed to resist bending while keeping the tripod practical to carry between observing locations.
For an imaging rig, the tripod supports everything above it: mount, telescope, camera and accessories. A secure foundation deserves the same attention as the optical equipment.

Precision-machined aluminium structure
The aluminium frame, leg joints and mounting plate use CNC machining, with material removed from selected areas to reduce weight.

A removable plate for convenient mount installation
The mounting plate incorporates three M6 mounting holes, a 3/8-inch centre thread, locking set screws and a locating groove. A dual-purpose centre bolt accommodates different installation arrangements.

Check the connection for your mount
Match the mounting pattern, screw engagement and base clearance to your particular mount before ordering. A matching thread size alone does not establish compatibility; some combinations may require an adapter or pier extension.
The manufacturer’s illustrations below show mounting arrangements. Mounts and other equipment pictured are shown for demonstration.

Bracing and ballast for field use
A triangular centre brace supports the legs in their operating position. The included ballast bag allows additional weight to be placed beneath the tripod.
Set up on firm ground, tighten each connection and check the rig through its intended movement before starting an imaging session. Keep cables clear of the legs and allow sufficient telescope clearance.

Ready for journeys to darker skies
At 515mm folded and 2.3kg including accessories, the T-Forty is a useful option when planning a transportable rig. Check its packed dimensions against your chosen luggage before travelling.
