The ZWO IR Cut Filter is designed to block unwanted infrared and ultraviolet wavelengths, allowing only visible light to reach the camera sensor. This improves image sharpness, colour accuracy and overall image quality when used with colour CMOS and CCD astronomy cameras.
Many astronomy cameras are sensitive to infrared light, which can reduce image sharpness because most telescope optics are optimised for the visible spectrum. By removing IR and UV wavelengths, this filter helps produce cleaner and more detailed planetary, lunar and deep-sky images.

Key Features
- Blocks infrared and ultraviolet wavelengths
- Improves image sharpness and colour fidelity
- Ideal for colour CMOS and CCD astronomy cameras
- Precision optical coatings for high transmission
- Standard 1.25" (31.7mm) filter format
- Threaded design for use with filter wheels and filter holders
This filter is recommended for cameras such as the ASI224MC, ASI185MC, ASI1600MC and ASI120MC that do not include a built-in IR cut window. Cameras such as the ASI178MC already incorporate IR filtering and typically do not require an additional IR Cut Filter.

Important Note
This filter blocks infrared light and is therefore not suitable for use with infrared security cameras or applications that rely on IR illumination.
The internal filter thread allows the IR Cut Filter to be stacked with other astronomy filters, making it a useful addition to any imaging setup.
