More Aperture on the Wireless NexStar Evolution Platform
The Celestron NexStar Evolution 9.25 combines a 235mm Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube with the Evolution computerised GoTo mount, built-in Wi-Fi and rechargeable LiFePO4 battery. Its additional aperture and heavy-duty 2-inch stainless-steel tripod make it an excellent choice for serious visual observing from a garden, observatory or dark-sky site.
- 235mm f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube with StarBright XLT coatings
- Built-in Wi-Fi control through the Celestron SkyPortal app
- NexStar+ hand controller with a database of more than 40,000 objects
- Integrated LiFePO4 battery for up to 10 hours of observing
- Heavy-duty 2-inch stainless-steel tripod
- Fastar compatible for use with a suitable optional imaging conversion system
Wireless Control or Included Hand Controller
The built-in Wi-Fi network lets a compatible smartphone or tablet connect directly to the mount without an external router. Use the Celestron SkyPortal app to align the system, browse the sky and command GoTo slews. The included NexStar+ hand controller provides a conventional alternative and access to more than 40,000 catalogue objects.
The mount’s own Wi-Fi network allows normal field operation without an internet connection. Date, time and observing-location information are supplied by the connected mobile device when using the app.
235mm Schmidt-Cassegrain Light Gathering
The 9.25-inch optical tube gathers approximately 34% more light than an 8-inch aperture, helping to reveal fainter deep-sky detail and providing extra resolution for lunar and planetary observing when conditions allow. The 2350mm focal length gives useful image scale for planets, globular clusters, planetary nebulae and double stars, while the folded Schmidt-Cassegrain design remains considerably shorter than a comparable long-focus reflector or refractor.
Evolution Mount and Internal Battery
The Evolution mount incorporates DC servo motors, precision brass worm gears, manual altitude and azimuth clutches, four AUX ports and a USB output for charging a mobile device. The 9.25-inch package uses Celestron’s larger CPC-style 2-inch stainless-steel tripod for greater stability under the heavier optical tube.
The battery can be charged or the telescope operated from the supplied AC adapter. Celestron recommends keeping the battery charged during storage and using the supplied charger or a suitable certified 12V DC supply rated for at least 2A.
Visual Observing and Astroimaging
The telescope is well suited to lunar and planetary imaging and can be used for shorter-exposure work on brighter deep-sky subjects. The altazimuth mount introduces field rotation during long exposures. An optional NexStar Evolution wedge can convert the system to equatorial operation for more advanced imaging. Cameras, adapters, reducer, wedge and other imaging accessories are sold separately.
This telescope is not a fully automated smart-imaging system: a compatible camera and all required imaging adapters must be selected separately.
Transport and Setup
This is a substantial portable telescope rather than a lightweight grab-and-go system. The complete kit weighs 28.4kg: 9.07kg for the optical tube, 7kg for the mount head and 12.06kg for the heavy-duty tripod. The three main parts separate for transport and setup.
The optical tube attaches to the mount through a CG-5-format dovetail bar. Large integrated handles on the mount and practical tripod features simplify assembly, but users should still assess lifting requirements and the route to their observing location.

Solar Safety
Warning: Never look at the Sun through this telescope unless a suitable certified aperture solar filter is securely fitted over the complete front aperture.
Never use an eyepiece-type solar filter, a Herschel wedge or the telescope to project an image of the Sun. Unfiltered sunlight can cause immediate and permanent eye damage and may damage the telescope or attached accessories.
Never leave the telescope unattended, especially when children are present. If the suitability or fit of a solar filter cannot be confirmed, do not point the telescope at or near the Sun.
