Choose a Player One camera
The right camera depends on the telescope, target, sensor size, field of view, pixel scale and whether you prefer a colour or monochrome workflow.

Planetary and lunar imaging
Planetary imaging normally uses short exposures and high frame rates. Sensor dimensions, pixel size, sensitivity and achievable image scale should be considered with the telescope focal length and typical seeing rather than choosing on resolution alone.
Player One's planetary range includes compact colour and mono models built around Sony CMOS sensors such as IMX662, IMX585 and other application-specific sensors.

Deep-sky astrophotography
Cooled deep-sky cameras are designed for longer exposures where regulated sensor temperature can help make thermal behaviour and calibration more repeatable. Sensor size should be matched to the telescope's corrected image circle and the field of view you want.
The current Player One cooled range spans square-format and larger APS-C or full-frame options, with both mono and colour workflows represented across the range.

Mono or colour?
Colour cameras provide a simpler acquisition workflow by recording colour through a Bayer sensor in one imaging sequence. Monochrome cameras are normally paired with filters and a wheel or drawer, adding complexity but allowing the filter set and acquisition strategy to be selected independently.
If you are building a mono setup, plan the camera, filter size, wheel, OAG or guider and available back focus as one imaging train rather than choosing each part separately.
Build the complete imaging system
Camera compatibility does not stop at the sensor. Before ordering, check telescope image circle, reducer or flattener spacing, filter size, adapter threads, guiding method and mount capability.
