Vaonis ATLAS: Single or Twin? UK Preorder Guide

Meet Vaonis ATLAS: an expandable smart telescope for deep-sky imaging, available to reserve at Dark Clear Skies with a £200 fully refundable deposit. First deliveries are expected in March 2027.
Start with the observing you want to do
ATLAS is designed for people who want to capture nebulae, galaxies and star clusters through an app-controlled imaging system. Each removable 80mm module combines its optics and camera, so choosing Single does not mean buying an incomplete telescope. The shared mount can accept a second compatible module later.
Which configuration makes sense?
| Choose Single if… | Choose Twin if… |
|---|---|
| You want the lower initial purchase price, with the option to expand later. | You want both 80mm modules working together from the beginning. |
| One integrated camera and optical module suits your imaging plans. | You want to collect more signal during limited clear-sky sessions. |
Twin combines images of the same target. It does not photograph two different objects at once, double native resolution or widen the native field. Each module remains an 80mm f/4.5 telescope; the f/3.2 equivalent quoted by Vaonis describes their combined imaging speed.
How an ATLAS session works
- Set up and level the instrument using its electronic levelling guidance.
- Connect your compatible mobile device and open the Gaia app.
- Choose your target using the sky map or the live Sky Guard all-sky view.
- Follow the image as exposures accumulate. Use session planning or return to the same target across nights.
Sky Guard keeps the wider sky in view while the imaging module captures your selected object. Mosaic imaging helps frame larger targets; FITS and TIFF export lets you continue processing afterwards.
How the £200 refundable deposit works
The amount paid at checkout is a deposit towards the selected configuration. It is not the full telescope price. We deduct it from your total and request the remaining balance separately before dispatch. The deposit checkout does not authorise an automatic balance payment. Contact Dark Clear Skies if you wish to cancel your reservation and receive a full refund of the deposit.
| Configuration | Full launch price incl. VAT | Deposit now | Balance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single 80mm | £3,399 | £200 | £3,199 |
| Twin 80mm | £4,649 | £200 | £4,449 |
These launch prices apply to reservations placed by 15 November 2026. The next advertised pricing window runs from 16 November 2026 to 15 January 2027, with full prices of £3,799 for Single and £5,099 for Twin. From 16 January 2027, the advertised full prices are £4,199 and £5,899 respectively.
Delivery and future expansion
March 2027 is the expected first delivery period, not a guaranteed dispatch date. Extra modules and accessories have their own schedules. ATLAS accessories are separate from the Vespera system. The optional equatorial table is currently expected in the second half of 2027.
