The StellaLyra 6-inch M-LRN-D pairs a 150mm parabolic mirror with a 600mm focal length in a carbon-fibre tube. A dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser and substantial mounting hardware provide the starting point for a dedicated deep-sky camera setup.

Why choose this model?
A 600mm focal length offers a useful starting point for framing nebulae, clusters and other deep-sky targets with an appropriate camera. It gives a closer view than the 456mm model with the same sensor, while retaining a relatively short optical tube.
This is an optical tube assembly. It suits an imager who is comfortable planning the camera connection, checking mirror alignment and testing the finished system before committing to a long sequence.

Let your camera decide the framing.
Start with a few targets and check their field of view using your actual sensor dimensions. An object that fits comfortably on one camera may require a mosaic on another.
Do not choose purely by aperture or assume that a larger sensor is automatically a better match. The final image also depends on optical correction, illumination, tracking and the way you process the data. Check those requirements together when planning the rig.

Check the saddle before choosing the mount.
This version includes a lower Losmandy-style mounting dovetail and an upper Vixen-style rail. Confirm that your mount saddle accepts the lower rail.
The published tube weight is 5.3kg. Add the camera, corrector, guiding equipment, filter hardware and cables when calculating the working load. Leave practical headroom for imaging performance and balance the complete system on both mount axes.
Fine focusing is part of a repeatable routine.
The 2-inch dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser provides coarse and fine control. Use short exposures to assess focus, then recheck after the equipment settles and as conditions change.
Route cables with enough freedom for the mount to move, while avoiding a pull on the camera. Carbon fibre does not remove the need to monitor focus through the night.

Make mirror alignment a normal setup step.
The rear mirror cell provides collimation adjustments. Collimation aligns the mirrors so that the optical system can work as intended; check it with a suitable tool, especially after travel.
On the first night, inspect a short star-field exposure before starting a long run. Compare the centre and corners, then investigate alignment, focus, tilt and corrector spacing in a controlled order. Changing one thing at a time helps you identify the cause of an uneven field.
Plan the corrector and camera as one assembly.
Include a compatible coma corrector for deep-sky imaging. It helps control the distorted off-axis star shapes inherent in a fast Newtonian.
Two separate measurements matter: the corrector-to-sensor spacing and the telescope’s ability to bring the assembled camera system to focus. Account for camera adapters, a filter drawer or wheel and any other hardware. A 2-inch connection alone does not guarantee compatibility.

Can I use a DSLR or an astronomy camera?
This model is intended for deep-sky camera use, but check the particular camera, corrector and adapters together. Send us the camera model and any filter hardware so we can help assess the complete connection.
Is it ready to image straight from the box?
No. It is the optical tube and mounting hardware for a separately assembled system. You will need tracking, a camera, suitable correction and connections, power and control equipment.
Does the upper Vixen rail replace the lower mounting rail?
The specified mount connection is the lower Losmandy-style dovetail. Check accessory clamps and load arrangements separately; do not assume that every rail and saddle combination is interchangeable.
What should I test before a full imaging session?
Confirm focus, balance and reliable tracking, then inspect stars across a short exposure. Once the setup is consistent, choose a well-framed target and begin collecting data. Keep notes on spacing and focus settings so the result is repeatable.
