Choose a Player One cooled astronomy camera
The range below covers different sensor sizes, resolutions and budgets. For many imaging rigs, the key choice is between a mono camera used with filters and a one-shot-colour camera for a simpler acquisition workflow.
Ares Pro – IMX533
The Ares Pro family uses the square-format Sony IMX533 sensor and is available in mono and colour versions. Its sensor size makes it a practical step into cooled deep-sky imaging without requiring the larger corrected image circle of APS-C or full-frame cameras.
Poseidon Pro – IMX571
The Poseidon-M Pro and Poseidon-C Pro use the APS-C Sony IMX571 sensor. They provide a substantially larger imaging area than IMX533 models and are suited to telescopes and correctors capable of illuminating an APS-C field.
Zeus Pro – IMX455 full frame
The Zeus-M Pro and Zeus-C Pro use the full-frame Sony IMX455 sensor. Full-frame cameras place greater demands on telescope correction, filter size and mechanical alignment, so check the complete imaging train before choosing this format.
Mono or colour?
Colour cameras provide a straightforward imaging workflow with a Bayer colour sensor. Mono cameras require appropriate filters to create colour or narrowband images, but allow the filter set and acquisition strategy to be selected independently.
